CLEVELAND — The Western Reserve Historical Society will present Current and Controversial, a community forum that explores the major issues facing our region, such as immigration, unemployment, the role of government and individual freedoms.

This first forum will be held Sept. 15 from 10:30 a.m.-noon at the History Center, 10825 East Boulevard, Cleveland, in University Circle. It deals with the deindustrialization and rebirth of Cleveland, inspired by Shattered Dreams Revisited: The Death and Rebirth of the Midwest Industrial City, a new work by photographer and author Lauren Pacini.
The panel is moderated by Norm Krumholz, professor, Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University.
Questions
A panel of experts will address the following issues that face Cleveland, and other cities in northeast Ohio and across the Midwest: What impedes the reclamation of the once industrial inner city? How can the clearing of brownfields become an economic engine for the region? Is our move to a new, less industrial future hamstrung by the way we wish to see our past?
