Four new sportsman’s license plates now available in Ohio

COLUMBUS – Ohio’s hunters and anglers can now show what matters to them by purchasing one of four new sportsman’s license plates for their car, truck or trailer, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife.
Ohio license plates with images of the smallmouth bass, walleye, white-tailed deer, or wild turkey are now available through the state Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
“The sportsman’s license plates are a great way to showcase your interest in hunting and fishing, while making a financial contribution for the all-important work of wildlife conservation,” said Steven A. Gray, chief of the Division of Wildlife.
Extra fees. Each specialty plate costs an additional $25 above the regular license plate registration fee.
Fifteen dollars of that amount goes to the Division of Wildlife to support a wide range of programs, including operation of the state’s fish hatcheries, land acquisition for habitat conservation, youth education programs, and outdoor skills education among other efforts.
Behind the plan. State representative Bob Latta, of Bowling Green, introduced the legislation creating the wildlife specialty plates.
Artist Adam Grimm of Elyria, winner of the 2000 federal duck stamp and 2005 Ohio wetlands habitat stamp competitions, illustrated the design for each plate.
“Ohio is fortunate to have an acclaimed artist like Adam Grimm providing the paintings for the sportsman’s plates. Adam’s donation of this artwork is a great gift to the anglers and hunters of our state,” said Gray.
