Four state extensions offering conference to consider midlife

WHEELING, W.Va. – A “Celebrating Midlife” conference, scheduled at the Oglebay Resort and Conference Center in Wheeling, W.Va., in April is offering special resort center rates for those who register before Jan. 7.

The conference is sponsored by the cooperative extension services of Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia, and will be April 7-9.

It is intended to provide for a meeting of people entering or living their midlife years, 40 to 60, and is designed to foster discovery and discussion about important midlife topics.

Understand midlife, educators stress, is the first step toward learning to take normal and unexpected midlife events and changes in stride and of feeling more in control of life.

Subject tracks. The program will emphasize six different subject tracks – caregiving responsibilities, family connections, financial security, health and wellness, housing, and personal development. Participants will be able to choose up to seven of 45 workshops offered.

The meeting also will include two motivational keynote talks, preconference tours, and opportunities for recreation and leisure activities.

Conference rates for housing at Wilson House at the Oglebay Resort complex is available to those who make reservations with the resort by Jan. 7.

Registration fee for the conference is $125 if paid by Feb. 1, and $150 after that date. The fee includes breakfast on Monday and Tuesday and lunch and dinner on Monday.

Daily registrations will also be available.
