“Home-cooked meal” is a household phrase, but the time Americans need to prepare food from scratch has shrunk over the past few decades.

National Geographic Society presents research data that finds that some Americans struggle to provide home-cooked meals without time pressures. They want to provide their families with healthy meals but may not be able to.

A solution? In certain areas, grocery stores, community organizations and even food trucks are starting to offer to-go meals to families that are healthy and affordable. Families with limited time to prepare and cook dinner on a nightly basis can benefit from these services.
