NORTH CANTON, Ohio – Christmas caroling through Hoover Park in a horse-drawn wagon is on the roster for visitors who attend the traditional Christmas Open House at the Hoover Historical Center Dec. 3, from 1-5 p.m.

Center volunteer and Christmas event chairman Sue Evans of Mechanicstown will have live pine roping, a Victorian holiday accoutrement, throughout the 147-year old Hoover family home and swagged through the fencing that surrounds it.

Christmas trees will be decorated to reflect Christmas decor, beginning with the period of the 1850s to the the latest fiberoptic-style Christmas tree.

A premier display of vintage Hoover holiday advertisements will complement the holiday gala.

Harpist Mary Anna Hutchinson of Malvern will play Christmas melodies, while Santa and Mrs. Claus will greet children to hear their wish-list.

A refreshment committee will serve home-baked cookies and warm cider in the barn next to the “Unique Boutique.”

Adding to the festivities will be the harmony of Christmas carols from within the Tannery. Students from Pleasant View School for the Arts in Canton will lead caroling among those who gather there for the 12th annual presentation of A Christmas Carol.

Performances in the ancient Chinese art form of shadow puppetry will be held at 2 and 3 p.m. Admission to all events is free. For more information, phone 330-499-0297.
