CLEVELAND – The Western Reserve Historical Society’s “Tours at Two” are back.
Join in for hands-on activities and tours for kids that make learning history fun. These summertime tours and/or activities pair the historical society’s collections with activities and tours just for kids.
“Tours at Two” take place every weekday from June 19 through Aug. 18 at 2 p.m.
About the tours.
Tours include “Turn of the Century Toys” where children can imagine themselves as a playmate of Price McKinney in the Hay-McKinney Mansion nursery and play with historic reproduction toys.
Kids will also see a dollhouse collection and even make their own miniature to take home.
Explore our newest exhibit, “Ice Cream: The Whole Scoop”, and learn about the history, lore and sweet successes of ice cream. Kids can pretend to work in the ice cream shop with play money and food.
Make your own car.
Learn about the early days of making automobiles when you “Get a Job on the Assembly Line.” Kids will learn to make miniature autos one at a time and then on the assembly line.
Their hard work pays off with pretend shopping on the Street of Shops following the program.
Discover “Life as a Civil War Soldier” where kids try on soldiers’ gear including coats, canteens, knapsacks, and look through a soldier’s personal belongings.
Each tour is approximately 45 minutes long. The programs are on a rotating schedule.
The Western Reserve Historical Society is located at 10825 East Boulevard in Cleveland’s University Circle.
Regular admission is $7.50 for adults, $6.50 for seniors and $5.00 for students. Members and children 5 and under are admitted free.
