Loudonville Livestock Club presents awards at appreciation banquet

Receiving the supreme showman trophies at the Loudonville Livestock Club banquet were Caleb Shriver, Mitch Rooks and Amber Nickles.

LOUDONVILLE, Ohio — The Loudonville Livestock Club lavished notes of appreciation and presented trophy awards during its appreciation banquet held in the cafeteria of the Loudonville High School recently.

Jeff Byers, veterinarian and club adviser, welcomed the room full of members, families and their guests, noting successful 43rd year for the club.

Sale

The livestock auction sale generated $81,886. Members of the club donated $3,132.26 to a charity of their choice.

Bob Graber served the club with his auctioneer service and L. Wayne Dessenberg and Jesse Ashby worked as the ringmen.

Loudonville Fair Queen Nicole Zody and her court, Logan Fritz and Amber Nickles assisted the buyers and club members.

The sale committee included Carol Endslow, Debbie Ayers, Jill Adams, Carol Spreng and Carol Beck.

Winners

Called forth as the Supreme Market Steer Club member trophy winner was Amber Nickles. The Supreme Market Hog Club member trophy winner was Mitch Rooks and the Supreme Market Lamb Club trophy winners were Caleb Shriver and Fritz.

Club members earned points over the season from placements in the spring show — showmanship, carcass and show placements — to achieve the annual top award. The carcass show for steers and lambs was held following the fair at the three local processors.

Winning first place in the Market Steer Carcass Show was Raelyn Fliger. Winning the Market Lamb Carcass Show was Jacob Nickles and the Sonaray Market Hog winner was Michael Nickles.

Honored for achieving the rate of gain for her market steer was Kirsten Augustine. She was presented on behalf of the Ashland County Cattlemen a $100 bonus by Byers.

Club advisors included Victor Strasbaugh, David Stake, Sadie Stake, Darrin Spreng and Byers.
