Man spends $84,819 at Fayette County

Fair UNIONTOWN, Pa. – The 51st annual Fayette County Fair 4-H Market Livestock Auction in Uniontown, Pa., broke all previous sales records as 280 lots grossed $316,617.75 this year.
Joe Hardy, Fayette County commissioner and owner of 84 Lumber Co. and Nemacolin Woodlands Resort and Spa, purchased the grand champion and reserve grand champion market lamb, steers and hogs.
Purchasing 16 animals for $84,818.50, Hardy was the total volume buyer.
The volume animal buyer was Jamieson’s Shop ‘n Save, which purchased 27 lots.
Grand champions. The 90-pound grand champion market goat was exhibited by Casey Jackson and sold to Nicolaus Construction for $75 per pound for a total of $6,750.
The 130-pound grand champion market lamb was exhibited by Ryan Witt and sold for $90 per pound for a total of $11,700.
The 1,320-pound grand champion market steer was exhibited by Alexis Tabaj and sold for $21 per pound for a total of $27,720.
The 267-pound grand champion market swine was exhibited by Scotty Gardner and sold for $35 per pound for a total of $9,345.
Reserve grand champions. The 86-pound reserve grand champion market goat was exhibited by Angela Becker and sold to Fudico-West Inc. for $5 per pound for a total of $516.
The 136-pound reserve grand champion market lamb was exhibited by Alyssa Tabaj and sold for $10 per pound for a total of $1,360.
The 1,250-pound reserve grand champion market steer was exhibited by William Work and sold for $9 per pound for a total of $11,250.
The 253-pound reserve grand champion market swine was exhibited by Pierce Willson and sold for $15 per pound for a total of $3,795.
Total money raised. The Fayette County 4-H Livestock Scholarship Fund received more than $12,000 from this year’s resales.
The 4-H Livestock Scholarship Fund benefits 4-H Market Livestock project members who choose to pursue a post-high school education.
