Medina historical society opens doors March 2

MEDINA, Ohio – The Medina County Historical Society’s first open house of the year will be March 2 at the John Smart House.

It is located at 206 North Elmwood St., Medina, Ohio.

It is open 1-4 p.m.

This Queen Ann-style late-Victorian house is home to the society and it’s collection of Medina County history.

There are exhibits of vintage clothing, Civil War displays, pioneer artifacts, Native American tools and arrowheads from the area.

There is also a display of Martin Van Buren Bates and his wife Anna Swan, the Giants of Seville.

A new display of Chippewa Lake memorabilia will be unveiled and on display for the first time.

In addition, at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. there will be a video presentation called Ohio and the Civil War.

The John Smart House is open for tours Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
