UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State’s College of Agricultural Sciences will hold the “Pennsylvania Game Breeders and Hunting Preserves Annual Meeting,” Feb. 25-27 at The Nittany Lion Inn, University Park.
According to Paul Patterson, associate professor of poultry science, and conference chair, this is a meeting for people interested in game birds or operating a hunting preserve.
Sessions will be conducted by people experienced in game bird production and hunting resort management.
The program will include a very basic session for beginners on incubating and raising birds, as well as presentations of interest to beginners and to industry veterans.
Registration begins at 7 p.m., Feb. 25, followed by a 7:30 p.m. reception. Training and information sessions will begin at 8:30 a.m., Feb. 26.
Sessions will cover a diagnostic update for game birds; pheasant populations and habitat in the Northeast; necroscopy techniques for game birds; public health issues and challenges; training aides for bird dogs; and other topics.
Banquet speaker will be Bret Wallingford, wildlife biologist with the Pennsylvania Game Commission, who will discuss “Fawn Survival of Whitetailed Deer in Pennsylvania.”

The registration fee is $55., with a second person from the same firm or a spouse attending for $45. Tickets for Monday evening’s banquet are $28. Late or walk-in registrations will be accepted for $65 as space permits.
