Learn to make maple candy

BURTON, Ohio — A seminar on how to make maple candy, cream and other sweet treats will be held Feb. 4 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Big Creek Park, Cherry Room, 9160 Robinson Road, in Chardon Township.

Instructors

Aggie Sojka-Sperry and Hans Geiss will demonstrate using a hot plate and other candy-making tools.

Sojka-Sperry has represented northeast Ohio on the Ohio Maple Producers board of directors for eight years and is known in the area for her candy-making and maple spreads. Hans Geiss makes hard and soft candy and maple spreads and took first place grand champion in the candy division of the 2011 Chardon Maple Festival.
