Northeast district dairy management conference, breakfast set in Uniontown

UNIONTOWN, Ohio – The Northeast Ohio dairy industry breakfast and dairy management conference will be held March 21 at Raintree Country Club in Uniontown.

The club is located north of Canton at 4350 Mayfair Rd., Uniontown.

Breakfast registration begins at 6:45 a.m. The event also includes an industry update by Dianne Shoemaker, extension dairy specialist, and environmental regulation update by Kevin Elder, executive director of the livestock environmental permitting program.

Registration fees are $15 prior to March 12, and $20 thereafter. All registrations are due by March 14.

Management conference. Management conference registration begins at 9:30 a.m., followed by a morning session at 10 a.m. The event also includes a prime rib lunch and afternoon session. The program adjourns at 3:15 p.m.

Topics to be covered include manure regulations; milk pricing; feed additives; a producer panel evaluating nutrition program success; evaluation of feed programs based on milk components; and supplemental biotin for dairy cattle.

Mike Hutjens, nationally recognized dairy nutrition researcher and columnist for Hoard’s Dairyman and Dairy Today will be the keynote speaker. Other presenters include Elder; Scott Higgins of ADA-DC Mid East; and Bill Weiss, dairy nutrition and forages extension specialist.
