Ohio Angus show draws 103 head

COLUMBUS — Angus enthusiasts showed 103 entries at the 2009 Ohio Angus Association Preview and Junior Preview Show, June 28, in Columbus.

Steve Patton, Frankfort, Ind., evaluated the seven steers, eight cow-calf pairs, 11 bulls, and 83 females. An additional three bulls and three females were exhibited in only the open show.

S S C Maverick 18 won grand champion bull and grand champion bred-and-owned bull. Jonathan Sforza, Newark, Ohio, owns the January 2008 son of B C C Bushwacker 41-93.

Maplecrest Big Black J9016 was named reserve grand champion bull and reserve champion bred-and-owned bull. Lauren Grimes, Hillsboro, Ohio, exhibited the bull calf champion.

Bailey Harsh, Radnor, Ohio, showed the grand champion female and grand champion owned female, Dameron Beauty 8147, which was also the intermediate champion.

Bred and owned

Maplecrest Rita 7088 was named reserve grand champion female and grand champion bred-and-owned female. Grimes owns the September 2007 daughter of TC Total 410. She first won senior champion.

Jared Brosey, Hamilton, Ohio, led the reserve grand champion bred-and-owned female, B C C Miss Blackbird 855, which was also the senior calf champion.

Champion Hill Skymere 6379, shown by Bethany Enos, Cambridge, Ohio, claimed reserve grand champion owned female after winning owned senior champion and open reserve senior champion.

Champion Hill Ironman earned grand champion steer and was exhibited by Jacob McCormick, Bidwell, Ohio. Claiming reserve grand champion steer honors was C A F Northern 188, exhibited by Brook Roberts, Mount Gilead, Ohio.

Grimes also showed the grand champion cow-calf pair and Bailey Harsh showed the reserve champion cow-calf pair.
