REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio — Two Union County landowners, Don and Marge Bailey, recently donated a permanent agricultural easement on their farm, totaling 104 acres.

This marks Union County’s third donated easement to the Ohio Department of Agriculture, assuring the farm will forever remain in agricultural use.

The Baileys currently raise cattle, corn, wheat and soybeans on their Darby Township farm.

Monitoring

The Union Soil and Water Conservation District has agreed to annually monitor the property to ensure the terms of the agricultural easement are followed and the land continues to be used for agriculture.

The Land Heritage Trust of Union County worked with the Baileys to help facilitate the agreement.

To date, Ohio landowners have donated agricultural easements on 35 farms totaling more than 4,300 acres statewide.
