COLUMBUS — The 2014 version of the Ohio State Fair “Sale of Champions” set four new records and raised a total of $343,500. Records were set for reserve champion beef, grand champion market lamb, grand champion turkey and grand champion Swiss cheese.

Each species includes a “cap price,” which limits the amount an exhibitor gets. The amount above the cap goes to the Youth Reserve Program, which provides funding for various 4-H and FFA youth programs. This year, $263,500 was provided to the youth program. Since its inception, the program has awarded more than $2.8 million to about 32,500 youth exhibitors.
