SIDNEY, Ohio – The amphora collectors will hold a conference Aug. 9-11 at the Holiday Inn in Sidney, Ohio.

Amphora collectors are just beginning to appreciate the artistry of the Amphora Works, which produced art pottery in the Turn-Teplitz Region of Austria at the turn of the last century.

No book has yet been published on Amphora and much of its history and documentation has been lost due to the turbulent history of the area during the two World Wars.

Still learning. Through these conferences, collectors are putting the pieces of the puzzle together.

Collectors are amazed at pieces that appear that previously were not known to exist.

With Amphora, the diversity is so great that collections can exist within a collection.

One can collect Amphora animals, portrait vases, Art Nouveau women, Czech Amphora, creative pieces featuring bats, serpents, dragons and sea creatures or advanced modern design pieces by Paul Dachsel.

The highlight of this conference will feature the opportunity to visit one of the finest collections of Amphora in the world In addition, hundreds of fine examples of Amphora from leading dealers will be on display and for sale.

The conference will include talks by those knowledgeable in specific areas as well as the opportunity to ask questions of a panel of experts. Sidney, Ohio is centrally located just off of Interstate 75 north of where it intersects Interstate 70. Major nearby airports are Cincinnati, Columbus and Dayton.
