EAST LANSING, Mich. — Deciding what soybean variety to grow is now easier than ever with a new searchable database for producers.

Michigan State University Extension’s Department of Crop and Soil Sciences Variety Trials website allows producers to easily sift through information in the 2011 Michigan Soybean Performance Report.

Soybean producers fine-tune their searches by entering the specific desirable plant characteristics important to them. The database makes it possible to sort by year, location(s), seed companies, varieties, herbicide resistance, maturity and specific traits such as soybean cyst nematode and phytophthora resistance.

Results appear in order according to yield, from top to bottom. Producers should visit www.soybeanyielddata.msu.edu for access to the database or MSU Extension News at www.news.msue.msu.edu for more information.

MSU Extension News features helpful articles about various topics submitted by MSU Extension experts throughout the state.
