Pa. beef producers can get up to $2,000 in grants to navigate economy

HARRISBURG — To assist Pennsylvania beef producers’ abilities to manage cash flow and increase profitability, the Center for Beef Excellence (CBE) is offering up to $2,000 in profit, target or succession planning grants.

The grants are being made available through a federal grant.

“As many producers struggle with negative cash flow during this economic downturn, we know having professional help to assist with cash flow management can lead to improved margins for the beef operation,” says Ann Nogan, CBE executive director.
“These grants are intended to encourage more of Pennsylvania’s beef producers to seek professional expertise for help with cash flow management strategies or to increase profitability through target initiatives.”

Qualifications to apply

Any Pennsylvania beef farm that is not currently doing comprehensive cash projection and business budgeting can apply to receive the grants.
Available on a first-come, first-served basis, and pending approval, the funds must be used to employ professional services to do comprehensive cash flow projections, production costs analysis, beef business budgeting, business restructuring and herd health improvements.

All applications must be submitted by Dec. 21.
