HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Pa. Milk Marketing Board unanimously voted Dec. 11 to keep the state’s Class I over-order premium of $1.65 per hundredweight through the first six months of 2004.

The premium will be maintained through June 30, 2004. It was set to expire Dec. 31.

The action was the result of a haring Dec. 3, held in response to a petition submitted to the board by the Pa. Farm Bureau.

Since 1988, the board has mandated an over-order premium be added to federal order prices for Class I, or fluid, milk produced, processed and sold in Pennsylvania.

New acting secretary. On Dec. 19, the board named Timothy Moyer of Selinsgrove, Pa., as the board’s acting secretary.

He succeeds Lynda Bowman.
