Pennsylvania State Council of Farm Organizations plans annual meeting

LEMOYNE, Pa. — The Pennsylvania State Council of Farm Organizations will be hosting its meeting Feb. 5.

The board meeting will be held from 10 a.m.- 11:30 a.m. in Room 14 in the east wing in the main capitol.

The council will meet from 1 p.m.- 3:45 p.m. in Room G50 in the Irvis House Office building.

State policy

The agenda will include a presentation by nationally recognized political and communications expect Charlie Gerow, of Quantum Communications, in Harrisburg, Pa., to discuss the new session of the general assembly and what it means in overall state policy.

He will be joined on the panel by PSCFO members who will present a specifically tailored agricultural focus on the 2013-14 session.

Agricultural education

The second topic for this meeting is the annual update on Pennsylvania’s agricultural institutions and the state of agricultural education in the commonwealth.

Among other things, the state council will also discuss meetings with administration and legislative leaders on PSCFO’s priorities to advocate a meaningful PDA and agricultural programs budget for FY 2013-14.

Following the council meeting, there will be time for PSCFO members to visit with individual legislators before the annual Cornucopia legislative reception which will be held in the East Rotunda from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
