ASHLAND, Ohio — The Crestview FFA chapter hosted its annual eighth grade recruitment day Feb. 10.

Crestview eighth graders came over to the high school throughout the day and were exposed to the chapter’s facilities. Several members ranging from freshman to seniors were in charge of manning stations and explaining different aspects of FFA.

SULLIVAN, Ohio — Cori Aviles, Anna Shearer and Sierra Sturgill of the Black River FFA chapter participated in the Sub-District Public Speaking Career Development Event at Norwayne High School Feb. 8

Freshman, Aviles, also participated in the Creed Speaking portion of the competition, placing fourth.

Senior, Sturgill also competed in the Extemporaneous Public Speaking event. She earned second place in her division and will advance to the state competition.

Lastly, freshman, Shearer participated in the Beginning Prepared Public Speaking event. She earned fourth place.

OBERLIN, Ohio — Lorain County JVS FFA members had brunch with local farmers at the Lorain County Community College.

Students learned about the diversity of farms in the area, networked with different agricultural commodity groups, and heard presentations from local companies.

Students that attended were: Maggie Lieb, a senior in landscape and greenhouse management; Kaitlyn LeMaster, Anthony Elek and Noah Blanton, juniors in the industrial equipment mechanics program.
