Rovenolts win six-horse hitch for ninth time

HARRISBURG, Pa. – For the ninth year in a row, Rovenolt Stables of Turbotville, Pa., won the six-horse hitch competition at the Pennsylvania Farm Show.

After receiving the Alfred S. Rovenolt Sr. Memorial Trophy, Alfred Rovenolt took his turquoise freight wagon pulled by six black Percheron horses for a victory lap.

Rovenolt Stables also won the four-horse hitch competition.

Rovenolt Stables occupies 20-acres in Turbotville, housing an average of 10 draft horses.

In 1984, the family began showing Percherons and now show in approximately six major shows a year, including the North American Classic Series Six-Horse Hitch.

The Rovenolts won Percheron Family of the Year from the Percheron Horse Association of America in 1996, and the Pennsylvania Percheron Association Member of the Year award in 1998.
