Second round of Pymatuning/Shenango watershed forums scheduled

CORTLAND, Ohio – The second round of public forums are planned for the Pymatuning/Shenango Watershed Plan.

The Penn/Ohio Watershed Association will hold meetings from 6-8 p.m., Jan. 22 at the Kinsman Public Library and 7-9 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Mercer County Extension Office.

The watershed plan is ready for review and includes the comments made by the communities at each of the five public forums held in the watershed in January, February and March 2001.

What is it? The Interstate Pymatuning/Shenango Watershed Plan is a voluntary document designed to aid conservation groups, public officials, planning agencies, industry, as well as private citizens in making decisions on watershed issues.

The plan includes background information on the watershed, funding opportunities and contact information on groups working within the watershed.

For the public. The forums will provide an opportunity for the public to comment on the draft plan as well as find out how they can become involved in future activities within the watershed.

The meetings are open to all interested. There is no preregistration required.
