Selling local food? Class to cover regulations, safety

JEFFERSON, Ohio — OSU Extension and the Ashtabula County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau are offering a “Food Safety & Regulations for Selling Local Food Products” meeting March 27 from to 5 p.m. at the Ashtabula County Local Extension office, 39 Wall St., in Jefferson, Ohio.

Topics will include the regulations local producers must follow as they sell their vegetables, fruits, meat, mushrooms, eggs, fish, sprouts, cottage products and any other agricultural food products to restaurants, grocery stores, farm markets and direct to consumers.

Registration

There is no registration fee but anyone interested in attending should RSVP.

Producers are encouraged to submit questions in advance to be answered during the program. These questions can be submitted to the Ashtabula County Extension office or can be emailed to David Marrison, OSU Extension at marrison.2@osu.edu.
