GLOUSTER, Ohio — The Sunday Creek Watershed Group will host a stream cleanup June 15 as part of the 2013 Ohio River Sweep.

Participants should meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Glouster Memorial Park, off state Route 13.

Volunteers will remove litter and debris from Sunday Creek, a small tributary of a river.

All participants will receive a free Ohio River Sweep T-shirt. Volunteers should be prepared to get dirty and wet.

Background

River Sweep encompasses the entire length of the river, from its origin in Pittsburgh, Pa., to its end in Cairo, Ill., including nearly 3,000 miles of shoreline and many tributaries.

More than 20,000 volunteers collect more than 20,000 tons of trash and other debris from the banks of the Ohio River and tributaries.

Sunday Creek Watershed Group is sponsored by Rural Action, a non-profit group working to revitalize Appalachian Ohio through sustainable development.
