Former U.S. Representative James Traficant sustained injuries in a farm accident on Sept. 23, according to The Vindicator.

Traficant was driving a vintage 1943 Ford tractor into a barn on his daughter’s property on West South Range Road in Greenford, Ohio when the tractor ran into a steel blade. The tractor rolled backward and pinned Traficant underneath.

The former representative was unconscious when emergency crews arrived. He remains in very critical condition at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.

Traficant served in the House of Representatives from 1985-2002. He is known for being convicted of political corruption in 2002 after being found guilty of bribery, tax evasion and other felonies, and serving a seven-year term in prison from 2002-2009.
