ZANESVILLE, Ohio — Storms are one way in which Mother Nature practices forestry. However, it is difficult for many of us to view the recent storm of June 29 in this light.

As our lives are returning to order in the home, it is time to assess the damage inflicted on our woodlands.

Workshop. A free workshop After the Storm: Forests, Wind Damage and You is being held at the New Concord Village Hall Sept. 4. The program will begin at 7 p.m. and finish by 9 p.m.

Woodland owners are invited to learn from ODNR Division of Forestry and OSU Extension foresters about safety in the woods, damage assessment, tree salvage options and ways to be prepared for future weather events.

Reservations. Reservations are appreciated but not required. Call the OSU Extension, Muskingum County, at 740-454-0144 or email mechling.1@osu.edu to make a reservation.

A map and brochure describing the workshop can be found by visiting the Ohio Woodland Stewards at http://woodlandstewards.osu.edu, calling 614-688-3421, or emailing ohiowoods@osu.edu. For more specific information, contact Dave Apsley at OSU Extension at 740-710-3009 or apsley.1@osu.edu.
