RAVENNA, Ohio — Ernie King, 66, of Deerfield, Ohio died unexpectedly on March 16, 2014.

He was born in Maysville, Ky., March 5, 1948, to parents Lloyd and Lavona King.

Immediately following high school graduation, Mr. King started working for AT&T in Cincinnati, Ohio. He worked his way up to corrosion engineer, retiring after 33 years of service.

Mr. King enjoyed showing horses for many years, and was also a member of the Mahoning Valley Retread Motorcycle Club, where he was known as “Elio Man.” He was preparing to purchase a new, state of the art motorcycle that was enclosed and air conditioned.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Joyce L. (Kerr) King; his son, Jay King of Lake Milton, Ohio; a grandson, Tyler James King; and granddaughter, Sahra Elizabeth King; a stepson, Johnny Kerr; and siblings: Tony King, Mike Toy, Steve King, Lloyd King, Anita Eastman, Dennis King and Dallas King. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Jerry Dean King; and a stepdaughter Jane Ann Kerr-Bush.

Funeral services, officiated by Pastor David Ballert, were held March 22.

Donations can be made to the Deerfield Fire Department or to the family for a motorcycle memorial.
