AKRON — Gary Lee Bishop, age 67, passed away July 12, 2008, at Akron City Hospital after a four-month battle with cancer.

Mr. Bishop was born Jan. 3, 1941, in Ravenna, Ohio, and was a lifelong resident of Edinburg.

He owned and operated Bishop Tractor Sales in Edinburg until he retired in 2004. He was a member of the Masonic Charity Lodge 530, Order of the Eastern Star Palmy Chapter, Ravenna Moose Lodge 1234, Ravenna VFW #1055 and the AMVETS of Newton Falls.

Mr. Bishop was a member of the Edinburg United Church and volunteered in the 1970s with the Edinburg Fire Department. He was also an Army veteran, having served 1966-1968.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Nancy; daughters Teresa Snyder of Creston, Ohio, and Trina Nichols of Edinburg; a son, Terry Weahry of Creston; four grandchildren, three step-grandsons and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Almon and Thelma Bishop, and a sister, Joy Ann Bishop.

Calling hours were July 16 at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home in Ravenna. Graveside services were July 17 at Edinburg Cemetery.
