LEWISVILLE, Ohio — Baker and Sons Equipment Co. in Lewisville is celebrating 55 years of business. It all began with John Baker in May 1958. They now sell new and used farm, forestry, and industrial equipment for these brands:
Massey Ferguson, New Holland, bush Hog, Kuhn, LandPride, Great Plains, JCB Workmax utility vehicles, Pequea, H & S Manufacturing, Ag Wrap, Aerway, Prentice-Hydro Ax, Hood, Duratech, TimberPro, CSI, Pitts Trailers, Sneller, Rotobec, CTR, Cummins, Detroit Diesel and John Deere engines. In addition, Baker and Sons Equipment also services and sells parts for these lines of equipment.
Beginning
The business was established in 1958 (still at original location) with one pole building. The business has continued to grow with six expansions on the original building and added two new buildings over the years. In 1961, the company had three employees and one major manufacturer (Massey Ferguson). The business has continued to add numerous manufacturers over the years with the newest addition being JCB Workmax utility vehicles.
Baker and Sons Equipment Co. would like to continue to expand the areas that we serve in regards to sales, parts and service as well as increase internet and export sales.
Changes in the agriculture industry as well as the development of oil and gas wells has impacted Baker and Sons Equipment Co.
Shale development
Oil and gas development has affected the business and the areas that Baker and Sons serve. The business is still in the early stages of development that will be years in progress.
Baker and Sons Equipment Co. is continuing to see development of deep well leasing and drilling that is bringing benefits. The company is hoping to see business increase in the year to come.
