JERSEY SHORE, Pa. — Doebler’s is celebrating 75 years in business as a premier hybrid seedcorn, soybean, alfalfa, forage grass and clover dealer.
The company, started in 1935 by T.A. Doebler Sr., focused on local production and distribution. Currently, the company serves the needs of growers in nine states in the East.
In 2009, Doebler’s moved forward with expansion both at the company’s headquarters and out in the fields.
The company expanded the warehouse facilities again so that more product can be housed. In addition, Doebler’s increased the number of research plots throughout the region.
The company also hired Ed Brown as vice president for sales and marketing for Doebler’s. Immediately, Brown began motivating the sales force and the company had a banner year as a result.
Many companies were happy to see 2009 turn into 2010. Doebler’s was no exception, but with a couple of ideas they were able to turn the economic downturn into something positive.
With encouragement and support, the sales force made the company experience a profitable year and developed opportunities for customers by offering deals with more savings, greater package deals for consumers and discounts.
In addition, Doebler’s rolled out a new finance program for growers, R.E.A.P.
It also focuses on offering a high quality seed at reasonable cost to all sizes of farms.
Changes are happening constantly in the seed industry and Doebler’s is no stranger to the changes. The company is responding by introducing new genetics and improving seed characteristics in many varieties. The company is also keeping up on the latest in hybrid seed corn trait technology.
There are few independent regional seed companies left, where customers can still talk to the owners and managers. Deobler’s is one of them.
