Baked Ham

Ingredients

  • 1 ham, labeled fully cooked
  • 1/2 wine vinegar
  • 2 2/3 s brown sugar
  • 2/3 corn flake crumbs
  • Port wine or fruit juice

Directions

Soak ham in cold water overnight; drain. Place ham in roasting pan on sheet of foil large enough to wrap completely. Mix 1 quart water, vinegar and 2 cups brown sugar; pour over ham. Fold foil over top. Cover with roasting pan lid. Bake at 300° 15 minutes per pound. Cool without removing soil. Peel rind and trim fat. Combine crumbs with remaining brown sugar and enough wine to make of spreading consistency. Spread on ham. Bake at 400° for 40 minutes until sugar is bubbly. Cool before carving.
A ham is always a welcome addition to a holiday menu. This is easy and really tastes good. Do ahead. Serves 12 generously.
