This make-ahead breakfast is great for serving to overnight guests. Kristen Pool, of Black Dog Acres Farm in Windham, Ohio, submitted Breakfast Strata and Stuffed French Toast. Thank you, Kristen! They look yummy!
- 1 day-old or older French baguette
- 1 pound breakfast sausage
- 8 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 pound shredded cheddar cheese
Cut bread into 1-inch cubes. Cook sausage. In a very large bowl, whisk eggs with milk and beat until fluffy. Add cooked sausage and cheese to mixture. Add bread cubes and toss to coat evenly, until all liquid is absorbed. Put strata into a greased 13-by-9 pan. Cover, and refrigerate overnight or at least 8 hours. Preheat oven to 350°. Bake strata about 1 hour, or until golden and crispy. Serve with salsa. Makes about 8 servings.
