- 1 cup Karo syrup
- 1 cup sugar
- dash of salt
- 1/4 water
- 1 teaspoon vinegar
- 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
- 8 cups popped popcorn (more if you like)
Combine first four ingredients in saucepan. Cook to hard ball stage. Remove from heat and add butter. Pour over popcorn. Butter hands to form balls while still hot.
Variation: For colored popcorn balls use light Karo and white sugar; at the end of process add coloring of choice. For caramel popcorn, use dark Karo and brown sugar.
