Potluck Beef Barbecue Sandwiches


  • 4 lb. chuck roast
  • 1 cup brewed coffee or water
  • 1 tablespoon cider or red wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 (14 oz.) bottle ketchup
  • 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 cup sweet pickle relish
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 brown sugar


Place roast, coffee, vinegar, salt and pepper in slow cooker. Cover. Cook on high 6 to 8 hours or until meat is very tender. Pour off cooking liquid. Shred meat with two forks. Add remaining ingredients. Stir well. Cover. Cook on high 30 to 45 minutes. Reduce heat to low for serving.
