  • 2 lbs. beef round steak, 1/2 inch thick
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon basil
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 (4 ozs.) shredded Mozzarella cheese


Cut beef into serving size pieces; coat with flour. In large nonstick skillet, brown beef on both sides in butter over medium heat. Add tomatoes, salt and basil. Cover and simmer 1 hour; add onion and green pepper. Continue cooking 30 minutes or until beef is tender. Sprinkle with cheese; heat until cheese is melted.
