- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 or 2 celery ribs, chopped (leaves too)
- butter and flour for roux
- 1 quart tomato juice
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 pint sour cream
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 1 cup milk
Directions
Brown onion and celery in butter and flour to make roux. Dilute tomato juice with 1/2 quart water. Bring to boil; add baking soda. Add celery and onion roux, salt, sugar to taste and sour cream. In small bowl mix 3 tablespoons flour with 1 cup milk; add to soup and bring to boil.
This was often referred to as ?Sick Soup? because when you?re feeling sick, it makes you feel better.
