West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice recently announced a proposed state budget for fiscal year 2023. The proposal lines up with Justice’s history of proposing mostly flat budgets for the last several years. Some argue, however, a flat budget means low expectations and a lack of investment in the state.

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf approved the state’s next budget June 30. The final budget includes funding for many agricultural programs that Wolf zeroed out in his initial proposed budget earlier this year, but some were disappointed not to see more funding for broadband expansion and conservation.

Farm and conservation groups continue to follow the Ohio budget, which must be signed into law by July 1.
