The great thing about wooden toys is they can serve as family heirlooms. So why not build a wooden tractor and hay baler for that lucky kid in your family?

Handmade wooden farm toy

Christmas is 147 days away. That may sound like a long time, but handmade gifts can take a lot of time and effort. So, if you’re getting crafty this holiday season, you should probably get started!

Instructables user Phil B has a useful how-to for wooden toy (and farming) enthusiasts.

In case you didn’t know, Instructables is a website dedicated to giving users the ability to read and post step-by-step guides for everything from car repair to card counting.

The how-to

Phil’s how-to shows how to build a pint-sized wooden tractor and hay baler. He originally built the tractor for his son. Thankfully, Phil decided to share his process with everyone.

Though the wooden tractor project is rather complicated, the end result is worth the effort.
