CIRCLEVILLE, OHIO — A group of Pickaway County farmers recently launched the Ohio Fresh Foods Corridor during the first Pickaway County Farmers Market of the season. The initiative was started by local farmers to help people experience the connection with their food and focuses on promoting homegrown entrepreneurship, new investment and the value of Pickaway County’s existing strengths in food and agriculture.
Corridor branding will be visible along U.S. 23, in conjunction with retailers in the area, and includes a website (www.ohiofreshfoods.com) and Facebook page for farmers and consumers to engage in conversation around food and agriculture. The website includes sample two-hour and full-day corridor experiences.
Farmers developed the Ohio Fresh Foods Corridor brand for Pickaway County around their strengths: Prime location along U.S. Route 23, the ample resources and the diversity of agriculture in the area.
The U.S. Route 23 corridor is already known for its ample farm farmers markets, pick-your-own farms and roadside stands. The Ohio Fresh Foods Corridor is funded through the Pickaway County Community Foundation’s Agriculture Fund, which was established through the work of the Pickaway Competitiveness Network’s Agricultural Steering Committee.
