There are plenty of "sin taxes" that could be applied, if Ohio's governor Bob Taft takes the advice of columnist Kym Seabolt.

Columnist Kymberly Foster Seabolt adds it up: Her children + classmates + parties = buckets of sugar, piñatas, and unprepared parents.

I think it was the moment that the other team was performing advanced calisthenics - deep squats, knee bends, push-ups - prior to the game while our team was happily engaged in an impromptu rendition of "the chicken dance," that I sized up the situation and came to one inescapable conclusion: we were going to get creamed.

Well, the bad news is that I can now officially call Mr. Wonderful "my old man." The good news is that I'd rather be poked with a hot stick than do so.

Columnist Kym Seabolt thinks if we do our best, and practice kindness and compassion, we all deserve a pat on the back and maybe a badge too.

The key to raising a capable young adult is less in what you do, and more in what you don't.
