I am sure most of you are reading this as your fingers are thawing and you are drinking your second cup of hot chocolate between deer hunting drives.
As the wife and mother of a deer hunter, I feel very mixed over this week of hunting season. I am proud of my men; however I will admit it is a lot of work for me. I feel the need to restock the hunting supplies: orange vest and hats, warm gloves, camo, Under Armour, etc. I throw them a banana and cookie as they make the early hunt. Then I start the pot of chili for their mid-morning warmup.
Report changes
If you feel the need to run into town during this week it would be a great time to update your farm operations for the 2014 crop year. If you have bought or sold land, or if you have added or dropped rented land from your operation, make sure you report the changes to the FSA office as soon as possible. You need to provide a copy of your deed or recorded land contract for purchased property.
Failure to maintain accurate records with FSA on all land you have an interest in can lead to possible program ineligibility and penalties. Update signature authorization when changes in the operation occur. Making the record changes now will save you time in the spring .
For example, if you’re planning to sell land that’s enrolled in the Conservation Reserve Program, the buyer must agree to continue the enrollment. If the buyer doesn’t want to continue the CRP contract, you might have to refund all of the payments you’ve received to date. Not only will your FSA records be accurate but, you are sure to be warm enough to hold the cross-hair on the big buck that awaits you on the back 40. Happy hunting!
