KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Keystone International Livestock Exposition in Harrisburg, Pa., hosted the first national Hereford show of the 2003 fall show season.

This was also the first year KILE was designated a national show by the American Hereford Association.

Hereford exhibitors brought 160 head to compete for national bull and female honors.

Howard Fehlman, Junction City, Kan., sorted the entries and Tyler Cates, Modoc, Ind., evaluated the 56 head junior show.

Western Pa. winner. In the bull show, grand and senior champion honors went to Curt Stockdale, Dayton, Pa., with CS Bomber 6L, the son of CS Boomer 29F.

Four L Golden Eye 163, exhibited by Four L Hereford Farm, Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Rebecca Tiedeman of Nebraska, was slapped reserve grand and reserve senior champion bull.

Junior member Tad Francis, Brooklyn, Conn., led MCC LEXUS 210 to the winner’s circle as grand and yearling champion heifer.

Four L Hereford Farm added another banner to their winnings with the reserve grand and senior champion heifer.

Stockdale wins again. In the cow-calf pair division, Curt Stockdale returned to the top of the class with CS Lexus 45K by DR Achiever 8403. Lexus had a March bull calf by DS KCK Legend 10J on her side.

Reserve champion cow-calf pair honors were awarded to J&L Cattle Services, Jeromesville, Ohio, with JLCS B69 Lola 406F L1 by Mohican Finlay 406F; and a February heifer calf by Feltons 727.

Four L Hereford Farm ended the day with the premier exhibitor and breeder titles.

Junior winners. In junior show competition, Bradley Seiss, Maryland, exhibited the grand champion heifer, CS Legend’s Pearl 35 M, which was also reserve champion yearling heifer in the open show.

Taking the reserve nod was Brooke Steiner, Mason, Ohio, with NS Princess Devonia 211.

Sale average. Along with the show was the Keystone National Heifer Sale.

Nine heifer calves and one bred heifer highlighted the sale offering and the 10 head averaged $1,448.
