SALEM, Ohio — The Farm and Dairy held a photo contest this year to find out what should grace the front cover of this year’s Agri-Book, an annual directory of farm and rural organizations and agencies in Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and select national organizations.

Vicky Dillon, of Petersburg, won the contest with her photograph, “Summer’s Golden Splendor,” which she took in August. Subscribers received the 2010 Agri-Book, featuring Dillon’s photo, inside this week’s paper. The winning snapshot was taken at the Brungard Farm in New Middletown, Ohio. They are known in the area for their sunflower fields and strawberries.

However, Dillon did not enter the picture herself, the Brungards were so proud of the picture, they entered it for her!

There were 138 entries in the contest. Three judges determined the winner. They included: Farm and Dairy publisher Scot Darling, The Review photographer Wayne Maris, and Mahoning County farmer and amateur photographer George Houk.

A big thank-you goes out to the judges on a task that was not easy to accomplish because of the great quality of the entries.

Congratulations, Vicky, on a job well done!

Honorable mentions were also given to: Shirley Seymour of New Castle, Pa.; and Sherry Becker-Gorby of Rayland, Ohio.
