BOARDMAN – The warmth of Christmas-past is as near as Loghurst, the oldest log house in northeast Ohio, decked out and ready to interpret Christmas customs of days gone by.
Holiday decor, fresh-baked cookies from the 1905 woodstove, and hands-on demonstrations and crafts will all be a part of Christmas tours at Loghurst.
The farm house museum will be open Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the next two weeks, Dec. 9-10 and 16-17.
There will also be a special evening program on Dec. 21. Candlelight tours of the Loghurst farm house, decorated for the holidays will begin at 7 p.m. At 8 p.m., Loghurst operations manager Theresa Seiders will talk about making decorations and holiday traditions of the 19th century.
Among the activities available for all tours will be wood stove baking, ornament and gift making, and cranberry and popcorn stringing.
Loghurst, located at 3967 Boardman-Canfield Road, is owned by the Western Reserve Historical Society, and set-up to interpret early 20th century farm life.
Admission is $5.00 for adults, and $4 for students and seniors. WRHS members and children 5 and under are admitted free.
