MILLERSBURG, Ohio — The West Holmes FFA took a senior and junior Parliamentary team to the sub-district Parliamentary Procedure at Cambridge High School Dec. 2. The senior team placed first, members who participated on the senior team were Mandy Taylor, president; Shyann Kick, vice president; Chris Vansickle, treasurer; Payten Boring, reporter; Marris Hoffee, secretary; Kara Leadbetter, sentinel; Jarrett Brooks, student advisor and member Lexi Kinstle.
The junior team placed second, the team consists of Marris Hoffee, president; Paige Patten, vice president; Chris Vansickle, treasurer; Payten Boring, reporter; Isaac Wine, secretary;  Bryce Kelley, sentinel and Jarrett Brooks, student advisor.
The senior team then competed at Riverview High School Dec. 3. The team placed sixth. The teams conduct a meeting to demonstrate their knowledge of basic parliamentary law and the correct use of parliamentary procedures.

WEST SALEM, Ohio— Members of the Northwestern FFA Chapter competed in the county parliamentary procedure contest held at Smithville High School Nov. 26. Northwestern had a novice and varsity team compete. The novice team was made up of AlanMichael Ulrich, Katie Stull, Gabbrielle Cecil, Mary Baker, Cameron Cline, Tyler Austin, Kaylee Conoway, Brittany Brown, Ally Ruegg, and Sydney Harmon. The team placed third overall.
The varsity team consisted of Becca Harbaugh, Tara Benton, Victoria Devore, Rachelle Howman, Spencer Sloan, Katie Weber, Philip Eberly, Kaci Way, Adam Miley, Kierstyn Wood, and Emily Flinn. The team placed first overall and will compete in the district contest on Dec. 4 held at Northwestern High School. Both contests are designed to test FFA members’ abilities in properly running a business meeting.
Teams are scored on different abilities of parliamentary procedure, debates on main motions, the secretary’s minutes, the chairpersons’ ability to run the meeting, a written test, and the overall look of professionalism throughout the team. The picture is of the varsity parliamentary procedure team.
The Northwestern FFA Chapter will be collecting cleaned Christmas trees beginning at 2:30 p.m. Jan. 7. People living at Lea Crest Estates, West Ridge, High Point or living in the villages of New Pittsburg, Lattasburg, Pleasant Home, Congress, and West Salem may leave their cleaned trees at the curb in front of their homes for free pickup.
Anyone interested in recycling their Christmas trees and do not live in one of the above villages may drop off their trees at the New Pittsburg Park pavilion or at the West Salem Elementary School basketball court.
The FFA will deliver the trees to the West Salem Beagle Club for the protection of rabbits and other wildlife. This community service will act as a conservation project in a productive way of recycling used Christmas trees. Residents can not request pickups after Jan. 7. RICHMOND, Ohio — The Edison FFA just attended the parliamentary sub-district competition at Harrison Nov. 26. The senior team placed second out of 5 teams and the junior team placed third out of three teams. The senior team made it to sub-districts and placed fourth out of six teams.
