WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio — The Miami Trace novice and senior parliamentary procedure teams traveled to The Ohio State University Dec. 21 to compete in the state FFA parliamentary procedure finals.
The senior team consisted of Kameron Rinehart, Caroline Hughes, Zach Ault, Cody Clyburn, Caleb Penwell, Cassidy Elam, Evan Schaefer and Natalie Miller.
They won the test portion of the competition and then went on to win the entire competition. The team will get to compete at in Louisville, Ky., at the National FFA Convention in October 2014.
The novice team from Miami Trace also placed first and consisted of Cole Karnes, Marissa Sheets, Gavin Harper, Todd Peterson, Laura Capper, Justin Jones, Chloe Price and Makayla Eggleton.
They will also get to compete at the nationalcontest.
The Miami Trace FFA chapter will sell fresh strawberries Feb. 24-28. The strawberries are sold in full flats or half flats. Contact an FFA member or the Miami Trace FFA chapter office at 740-335-6087 to purchase strawberries.

COLLINS, Ohio —The Western Reserve FFA students recently shared their agricultural knowledge with third grade students. The students enjoyed a petting zoo that included a horse, donkey, goat, sheep, and poultry.
The younger students rotated through educational stations that included milking Maggie the cow; wool; corn plastic; soybeans; and eggs.
The Western Reserve FFA also recently held its annual square dance. The FFA Alumni also hosted a silent auction to benefit the Western Reserve FFA scholarship fund.

WEST SALEM, Ohio — On Jan. 9, members of the Northwestern FFA Chapter participated in a Christmas tree pick-up for the community. Members Victoria Devore, Cody Corbett, Ally Jurenec, and Damon Johnson all helped out with this project.
Members went to Lea Crest Estates, West Ridge, and High Point, the villages of New Pittsburg, Lattasburg, Pleasant Home, Congress, and West Salem to pick up the trees.
The trees were then donated to the West Salem Beagle Club for recycling. The trees will be used for wildlife protection.

WATERFORD, Ohio — The Waterford FFA Chapters Parliamentary Procedure Team recently competed in three different contests that lead them to becoming one the best parliamentary procedure teams in the state of Ohio.
Parliamentary Procedure teaches students how to run an organized meeting using “Robert’s Rules of Order”. The sub-district contest was held at Alexander High School where the team placed second, received a gold rating and advanced to the district Parli Pro Contest, which was held in Cambridge, Ohio.
Here the team went on to place second advancing them to the state Parli Pro Contest for the eleventh year in a row. The state contest was held Dec. 21 at The Ohio State University main campus. Twenty teams advanced to the state Ccontest out of approximately 200 teams from across the Ohio.
At state, during the preliminary round, teams are split into five heats consisting of four teams for each heat and the winner of each heat advances to the finals. The team placed second in their heat, ranking the team in the top ten. The team will also be recognized with a plaque for their efforts during the state FFA convention in May.
