PLYMOUTH, Ohio — During the week of Feb. 16-22, Plymouth FFA planned a variety of activities to celebrate FFA and agriculture.
Students competed in the pudding challenge during AAA. The challenge winner was Tony Kitts, with Ryan Stumbo and Parker Kennard giving him competition, earning second and third place.
Mikayla Reer, Tayler Patton, Colten Young and Aaron Lyons participated in the Job Interview CDE. Reer placed first; Patton earned second; Young placed seventh, and Lyons placed ninth place in district competition.
Reer moved on to the preliminary state contest.
Plymouth FFA chapter went on its annual FFA Farm Tours trip. This year, they traveled to the Planktown Hardware and saw chickens, emus, how to train horses, sheep, about solar energy and learned how to make homemade soap.
From there, they headed to Milliron Inc. to visit the recycling division and have lunch, then visited Schroeder’s Grain Farm.
Chance Butcher and Austin Bisel recently competed in the Tractor Troubleshooting CDE. As a team, they placed second in the district.
On Friday morning, some students awoke by 3:30 a.m. to fix breakfast for supporters. One group of students headed to the diner to make sausage links, bacon, biscuits, and sausage gravy followed by a second group of students arriving at the school by 5 a.m. to prepare the classroom, scrambled eggs, potato casserole, fresh fruit, ham, coffee, orange juice, milk, pancakes, waffles and all the toppings.
Nearly 150 supporters attended the breakfast including teachers, alumni, and local businessmen and women.

WEST SALEM, Ohio — On Feb. 26, members of the Northwestern FFA chapter had the opportunity to learn more about tractor safety from Mike Guidetti, of Lowe and Young, in Wooster. He discussed many different safety precautions to use while working with tractors.
On March 1, members competed in the state ag sales contest held at Tolles Tech Career Center. The team of Kaci Way, Zach Berry, Ben Vaughan and Rachelle Howman placed 10th out of 20 teams.
Individually, Vaughan placed 15th.
On March 3, members participated in multiple judging contests at Mount Gilead. The dairy cattle judging team of Kaleb Kliner, Adam Miley and Lexie Perdue placed eighth overall, with Kliner taking first individually. Miley placed third individually, as well.
Phil Eberly competed in the dairy foods judging contest, placing sixth individually.
Emily Flinn participated in equine judging, placing 56th individually out of more than 100 individuals.
In the general livestock judging contest, Shelby Aulger, Katie Stull, Victoria Devore, Makenzie Harmon, Shania Reed and Kolton Keener placed 12th overall.
The poultry judging team of Brittany Bunyak, Austin Howman, Faith Hudson and McKayla Bunyakplaced third overall, with all the competitors placing in the top 20 individually. Bunyak placed third, Howman placed ninth, Hudson placed 15th and McKayla Bunyak placed 17th.
Joey Workman and Josh Rood competed in the wildlife judging contest, placing 17th.
The chapter is preparing for the state contest March 29.
