Grain and oilseed prices continue to rise in June

REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio — The Ohio winter wheat price in June of $6.92 per bushel is up 54 cents from May and $2.29 above the June 2007 average price of $4.63. That’s according to a recent survey by the USDA’s Ohio office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service.

Ohio’s June corn price of $6.67 per bushel is up $1.13 from May, and the state’s June soybean price of $13.90 per bushel is up $1.80 from May, and $6.18 above what was received at the same time last year.

The alfalfa hay price in June of $182 per ton is down $2 per ton from May but $36 per ton higher than the price received one year ago. Other hay at $95 per ton is down $20 from May but $1 above the price received last year at this time.

The June beef cattle price in Ohio of $86.30 per hundredweight is up 50 cents from May and $2.80 per hundredweight higher than the June 2007 average price.

The steer and heifer price of $90 per hundredweight is up 40 cents from May and $2.60 per hundredweight higher than the June 2007 average price.

The June cow price of $53 per hundredweight is up $1.80 from May and $4.60 higher than the price received one year ago. Calves, at $101 per hundredweight, are down $2 from the previous month and $1 below the previous June price.

Ohio’s June hog price of $49.80 per hundredweight is down $2.10 from May and $2.10 less than was received the previous June.

The June sow price of $28 per hundredweight is up $2.30 from the previous month, but $9 below the June 2007 average price. The June barrow and gilt price of $52 per hundredweight is down $2.50 from the previous month, and $1.40 less than was received in June 2007.

The June milk price of $20.30 per hundredweight is up $1.10 from May but 20 cents lower than the June 2007 price of $20.50 per hundredweight The June egg price of 95 cents per dozen is up 19 cents from May and 38 cents higher than the June 2007 price.
