Pa. Beef Expo is March 29-April 1

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The Pennsylvania Junior Cattlemen’s Association will hold it 11th annual junior steer and heifer preview show at the Pennsylvania Beef Expo.

The Expo will be March 29-April 1 at the Penn State Ag Arena, State College, Pa.

It will begin March 29 with the Pennsylvania Cattlemen’s Association awards banquet and annual meeting. The Expo Trade Show will begin the next day. Featured will be various displays of different beef breeds.

Beef contests.

The annual beef skillathon will be from 8-10 a.m. March 31 at the Penn State Ag Arena, with divisions for seniors (16-21), intermediates (12-14), and juniors (8-11).

The Beef Expo Quiz Bowl will also take place March 31, beginning with preliminaries at 9 a.m. Any team of four junior cattlemen’s association, 4-H, or FFA members is invited to compete. There will be two divisions, seniors (14-21) and juniors (8-13).

Primary Quiz Bowl topics will include nutrition, genetics, reproduction, animal health, marketing and promotion, and cattle breeds.

Heifer show.

This year’s PA Beef Expo heifer show will be at 2:30 p.m. March 31, and will include seven different beef cattle breeds.

Heifers born between October 1999 and October 2000 are eligible to be shown.

The junior steer show is scheduled April 1, following the showmanship classes that begin at 8 a.m. Light, middle, and heavy weight division champions will compete for grand champion.
